  • It is a bit crowded but the food is fantastic.
I really recommend you to visit this place when in South London. Really good Spanish food at a decent place. Best things I ordered last time: chorizo and the mushrooms in cream sauce. I am planning to go here with friends again soon. Thank you, Carmen.

We've eaten at Carmen several times over the last few years, and find it an excellent, boisterous Spanish tapas joint. Always busy ( tho' we tend to go on a Friday or Saturday evening), but good table turnover. All the good-sized tapas are fresh and hot off the cooker. Prawns in garlic oil, mushrooms, bacalao, stuffed red peppers, whitebait etc all make for a good meal, which with a reasonable bottle of Spanish wine can get you out for £60 or less.

  • A pleasantly airy, easygoing little tapas bar beside Clapham Common, Carmen makes a handy standby for a relaxed evening meal or a Sunday afternoon snack. The tiles and bare-wood decor tends towards Spanish-rustic, but the list of around 40 tapas is new rather than old style, with a large number of vegetarian options and salads. The wine list is shortish but very well priced, and a range of Spanish fruit liqueurs and brandies is a house speciality. Coffee too is above average.
